Linda Laine, Kenneth J. Weller Distinguished Professor of the Liberal Arts and professor of communication studies at Central, has been appointed as Faculty Fellow for Interdisciplinary and Faculty-led Programs at the college.
Paulina Mena, associate professor of biology at Central College, has been appointed as Faculty Fellow for Diversity and Inclusion at Central.
Jay Wackerly, associate professor of chemistry at Central College, has been awarded a National Science Foundation Award of $235,000 for academic research.
Mary Strey has been elected to a second four-year term on the National Board of the Lilly Fellows Program in Humanities and the Arts.
Washington Monthly’s 2013 ranking of liberal arts colleges lists Central College as No. 37 in the country.
In conjunction with Central College’s new Integrated Learning model, four class deans and four class directors have been named from current faculty and staff members. The model is the first of its kind at any college or university in the U.S.
