Music department performs one-hour opera

The most recent theatre production at Central College is a classic example of art imitating life.
Theatre Central presents “A Servant to Two Masters” as the final large performance of the fall season. The show will run Nov. 14-17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pella Opera House.
Premiering at Central, the new play is based on the book “Yellow Cab,” written by Iowa author Robert Leonard. The play was adapted and directed by Ann Wilkinson, instructor of theatre.
Set in in the near future, “Natural Selection” depicts a North America where technology rules supreme and the artificial has replaced the natural. Performances are April 25-28 in Kruidenier Center.
A former theatre major at Central, Shawn Jensen ’08 brings an artistic flair to the scientific realm.
“Endgame,” Beckett’s surreal one-act comedy following four characters in a post-apocalyptic world, will be performed at Central Nov. 16-18.
Directed by student Eric Bridges and written by playwright Moises Kaufman, “The Laramie Project” is based on events surrounding the murder of Matthew Shepard, who was beaten, tied to a fence and abandoned because he was gay.
Ann Wilkinson, instructor of theatre at Central College, has led an unpredictable life. By saying yes to opportunities placed in front of her, she made a name for herself in Los Angeles before finding her way to Pella.
Both sophisticated and silly, the play “Murdered to Death” by Peter Gordon will be performed by Central College students and guesst actor John Cisar Oct. 5-8.
