Shawn Wick, assistant professor of sociology at Central College, has been elected president of the Iowa Sociological Association (ISA) for 2014-2015. Wick was selected by other sociology professors throughout the state, and he will be responsible for hosting the organization’s annual conference.
Hannah and Jessica Laflin are sisters, volleyball players and Central Dutch hailing from Arizona. Their friendship is a source of joy in their college experience far from home.
Kathy Kelly, three-time nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, will be visiting campus on Sept. 13. Kelly is an author and peace activist.
The office of intercultural life will once again bring diverse speakers to campus to challenge and broaden the college community. This fall, four guest speakers will focus on religion, religious pluralism and diversity.
