Gabriel Espinosa, associate professor of music at Central College and acclaimed jazz musician, will perform a concert to celebrate the release of his new CD, “Samba Little Samba.”
Pulitzer Prize-winning drama “Rabbit Hole” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19–22 in Kruidenier Theatre at Central College.
Half the guests at Central College’s Oxfam America Hunger Banquet will eat a meager dinner, seated on the floor. The event will be a highlight of the college’s Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, which runs Nov. 15–20 and is sponsored by the Center for Community-Based Learning.
On Oct. 22, the lunch menu at Central College will center on locally raised meat and produce. The All Iowa Day meal will be served in the Central Market from 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
A dedication ceremony will be held for the Helen Jean Hislop Center, commemorating Hislop’s years of service in the field of physical therapy.
October 21-24 is Fair Trade Week in Pella, with events planned Tuesday through Thursday to highlight fair trade and social sustainability in a globalized economy.

Central College faculty and students will come together in a different setting from the classroom at 7 p.m. Oct. 10. In Central’s Upper Chapel, college President Mark Putnam, along with several faculty colleagues, will perform in song, comedy, lip-syncing and other hidden talents.
