In September, Cynthia Doggett, associate professor of music at Central, performed with the City Chamber Orchestra of Merida.
The Central College Flying Pans Steel Band performs their first concert of the year, PANTIKI, on Oct. 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.
The Sunday Concert Series sponsored by the music department will host a guest artist recital with Dr. Randall Faust on Oct.7.
Central College introduces nine new faculty members for the 2012-2013 school year. Five tenure-line faculty and four visiting faculty members will join the Central community.
Masters of Haiti’s acoustic twoubadou (troubadour) style Ti-Coca and Wanga-Nègès will be visiting Central College from Sept. 25-29. Their visit is in conjunction with the Center Stagesm cultural exchange program.
Mark Babcock, associate professor of music at Central College, will give a lecture and organ recital Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel. The event is a celebration of Babcock receiving the M. Joan Kuyper Farver Endowed Chair in Music.
This fall, Central students will host a variety of concerts on campus and in Pella.
Central College will play host to an intense week of music-making for 42 clarinetists from around the world.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with an international dinner with the theme of “A Tango from Argentina.” Dinner will be followed by music and dancing led by renowned Argentinian band Los Pinguos at 7:30 p.m.
