CD release concert for “Samba Little Samba”

Ashanti, the Latin jazz musical combo, will perform with jazz violinist Christian Howes. Associate professor of music Gabriel Espinosa provides lead vocals and bass for the group.
Central College is known in the Pella community and throughout Iowa for its exemplary music program, which allows majors and non-majors alike to participate in 18 vocal and instrumental ensembles. During the spring semester Central students will host a variety of concerts on campus and in Pella.

Central College presents the 33rd installment of its annual Jazzmania festival Feb. 4, featuring high school and middle school jazz band competitions and a concert from the Central College Jazz Band, who will be joined by Argentinean jazz trumpeter Diego Urcola.
Central College is sponsoring an instrument donation initiative to benefit the Yucatan Youth Orchestra Program, a music education program based in Merida, Yucatan, for students with otherwise limited exposure to music opportunities.
Guest artist Carol Welsman, an internationally recognized singer and pianist, will host a concert Nov. 11 with the Central College Jazz Band.
