Artist and activist to speak at Central convocation

The Central College Flying Pans Steel Band will perform its first concert of the semester, SUPERPAN.
Mike Draper, founder of RAYGUN, will be the featured speaker at a convocation at Central College Oct. 3.
The ensemble will perform works by American and British composers. Each piece embodies the nationalism of the featured culture.

The A Cappella Choir, Chamber Singers, Handbell Choir and College-Community Orchestra will present Christmas music by Camille Saint-Saëns, Stephen Paulus, John Rutter and others.
The Symphonic Wind Ensemble and College-Community Band perform music by Bernstein, Ticheli, Zdechlik and Gershwin, with special guest Paul Kovacovic.
In a concert mixing 20th century percussion ensemble literature with African drumming, the group will perform pieces by Anders Astrand, Alice Gomez and more.
Carrie Newcomer, American folk singer and songwriter, will perform a concert of her original works Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. She will also deliver an address at the Intersections convocation at 11 a.m. the same day.
