Theatre Central will host four performances of Eric Coble’s satirical comedy “Natural Selection” April 25-28 in Kruidenier Center. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m.
Set in in the near future, “Natural Selection” depicts a North America where technology rules supreme and the artificial has replaced the natural. The script follows Henry Carson, curator at Cultural Fiesta Theme Park, as he is forced to travel into the wastes of the country in order to restock his park’s Native American Pavilion.
Mary Jo Sodd, professor of theatre, is the show’s director.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and raised on the Navajo and Ute reservations of New Mexico and Colorado, Coble has penned nearly 20 plays, as well as television and radio scripts. His recognitions include an Emmy nomination, the National Theatre Conference Playwriting Award and the Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award.
Cost for general admission tickets is $5. Student and senior citizen tickets are $3, and admission is free with a Central ID. Tickets are available at the Maytag Box Office or by calling 641-628-9000.
