Central College introduces nine new faculty members for the 2012-2013 school year. Five tenure-line faculty and four visiting faculty members will join the Central community.

In celebration of the 2012 Homecoming/Family Weekend, Central College welcomes alumni, family and friends to campus Sept. 28-30. Over the weekend, visitors are invited to join in activities, enjoy performances, watch athletic events and catch up with classmates.

Masters of Haiti’s acoustic twoubadou (troubadour) style Ti-Coca and Wanga-Nègès will be visiting Central College from Sept. 25-29. Their visit is in conjunction with the Center Stagesm cultural exchange program.

The semester’s second exhibit in the Mills Gallery, featuring alumni of the glassblowing program who continue to work in the medium, will open Sept. 19. The exhibition is in celebration of the renovation of the glass studio last year.

Magnus McFarlene-Barrow, founder of Mary’s Meals, will speak about his organization and helping those in need Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Graham Annex.

Mark Babcock, associate professor of music at Central College, will give a lecture and organ recital Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel. The event is a celebration of Babcock receiving the M. Joan Kuyper Farver Endowed Chair in Music.

Conner Grennan will be on campus to talk about his memoir “Little Princes,” Thursday, Sept. 13. Grennan’s book was chosen as the 2012 common read.

Kathy Kelly, three-time nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, will be visiting campus on Sept. 13. Kelly is an author and peace activist.

Associate professors of art Mathew Kelly and Brian Roberts, as well as Mills Gallery director and professor of art Treva Reimer, will display their work in the show through Sept. 14.
