Poet Louis Jenkins will be the second featured speaker of the fall at Central College’s Writers Reading series Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Geisler Library reading room.
The event will feature Jenkins reading from his books “North of the Cities” (2007) and “Before You Know It: Prose Poems 1970-2005” (2009) before answering audience questions. After the reading, he will host a book signing.
A prose poet, Jenkins work has been well recognized. He has read his poetry on the public radio programs “A Prairie Home Companion” and “The Writer’s Almanac.” His works have also been widely featured in literary magazines and anthologies, including “The Best American Poetry” and “Great American Prose Poems.”
Jenkins has published 14 books, the most recent being “Before You Know It” and “European Shoes” (2008). His 1995 collection “Nice Fish: New and Selected Prose Poems” won the Minnesota Book Award.
