International dinner and Writers Reading series feature Croatian culture

An international dinner featuring Croatian foods will be held Nov. 21 in conjunction with a Writers Reading series featuring author Jennifer Wilson at Central College.

Jennifer Wilson, author of “Running Away To Home: Our Family’s Journey to Croatia in Search of Who We Are, Where We Came From, and What Really Matters.”

Wilson will be reading from her book “Running Away To Home: Our Family’s Journey to Croatia in Search of Who We Are, Where We Came From, and What Really Matters.” A resident of Des Moines, Wilson has written for many popular periodicals, including Midwest Living, Better Homes and Gardens and National Geographic Traveler.

“Running Away To Home” features Wilson’s trip to her great-great grandparents’ mountain village in Croatia. For four months, Wilson and her family lived in Croatia, learning the culture and finding out what it really means to be a family.

Dinner starts at 6:00 p.m. in the Dave and Ardith Sutphen Common Room. The reading will follow at 7:30 p.m. Reservations for the dinner must be made by Nov. 18 to Treva Reimer at reimert@central.edu or 641-628-5334.

The cost is $15 per person, $5 for Central students on a meal plan and children 6-10. Children under 6 are free. The writers reading is free and open to the public.
