PELLA — The 2011 Central College High School Stringfest will feature students from five high schools across the state. The orchestra will perform at an evening concert Friday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. in Douwstra Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
The High School Honor Orchestra, under the direction of Central’s Ty Myers, assistant professor of music and director of orchestra, will perform a variety of selections, including “Summer” from the Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, “Intermezzo” by Pietro Mascagni and “Eleanor” by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Four soloists will perform during the concert and will be selected after auditions.
Participating high schools include Des Moines Roosevelt High School, Indianola High School, Newton High School, Oskaloosa High School and Pella High School.
