The Central College cultural affairs office will kick off its “Going Global” week with an evening of events celebrating Argentinian culture April 11 at the Graham Conference Center.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with an international dinner with the theme of “A Tango from Argentina.” Dinner will be followed by music and dancing led by renowned Argentinian band Los Pinguos at 7:30 p.m.
“Going Global” week celebrates Central’s many connections around the world.
The dinner will feature authentic Argentinian dishes, including appetizers, an entrée with sides and dessert. See the full menu below.
Los Pinguos, a quartet from Buenos Aires, is recognized for their eclectic mix of Latin influences that combines the Spanish guitar, the Cuban tres, the Peruvian cajon, bass guitar and harmonized vocals. Formed in 1999, Los Pinguos developed a strong fan base in their home country before relocating to Los Angeles in 2001 and gaining recognition in the United States.
The performance at Central is the second stop on the band’s 19-date North American tour that features concerts across the United States and Canada.
Reservations for the dinner are requested by April 9. Cost is $15 for adults, or $5 for children age six to ten and Central students. Children under six are free.
The concert is free and open to the public. Guests are invited to attend one or both events.
