Gena Garber has been hired as the new director of human resources. She will begin in the position Jan. 3.
“Gena comes to Central with a broad background and experience as an HR professional and as a director of several similar-sized organizations,” said Margaret Tungseth, vice president for finance and administration/treasurer. “Her strengths, knowledge of the community and her personality are a great match for Central.”
Garber worked as director of human resources for the Iowa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. She has also served as project manager for The Palmer Group and director of human resources for Skiff Medical Center.
Garber earned a bachelor’s of business administration at the University of Iowa. She is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
“Gena is a highly motivated and energetic professional who has been recognized for her leadership and has the ability to handle the dynamics of an ever-changing higher education landscape,” said Tungseth. “She will be a tremendous asset for Central’s HR department.”
Garber’s professional experience has given her skills in retention and recruitment, employee relations and training and leadership development, all of which she will bring to Central.
“Central’s rich history, the vision of the leadership team and the warmth I felt during my interview were all things that attracted me to Central,” said Garber. “I am excited about the new relationships and connections, the opportunity to work in a learning environment and being a part of the vital community of Pella.”
