Comic book artist displays art in Mills Gallery

Comic book artist Phil Hester will display his work in the Mills Gallery at Central College starting Oct. 23.

Hester’s works include “Swamp Thing,” “Brave New World,” “Ultimate Marvel,” “Aliens,” “The Wretch” and many more. “The Wretch” was nominated for the 1996 Eisner Award for Best New Series.

Hester started comic book art while attending the University of Iowa. He received his bachelor’s degree in fine arts in drawing and minors in sculpture and painting. Hester resides in Iowa with his wife and two children.

His work can be seen during gallery hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. until Nov. 15. The exhibit is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Treva Reimer, Mills Gallery director, at 641-628-5334 or reimert@central.edu.
