PELLA — Central College will host the 2011 Iowa’s Impacting Diversity through Educational Alliances (I.D.E.A) Diversity Summit Wednesday, April 6. The summit is a collaboration between communities and campuses to make Iowa a more inviting place to live, work, play and learn. The event will address real solutions to problems in recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce.
The keynote speakers are Dwight Watson, dean of the College of Education at the University of Northern Iowa, and Raynard Kington, president of Grinnell College. Morning and afternoon sessions will address a variety of topics including immigration, disability and teaching race and ethnicity.

Cost is $15 for students before Monday, March 14, $25 before Tuesday, April 5, and $30 on site the day of the event. For general registrants, cost is $50 before Monday, March 14, $60 before Tuesday, April 5, and $65 on site. Registrants may check-in from 8-8:45 a.m. in Graham Conference Center.
Iowa’s I.D.E.A. is a consortium of private colleges and universities and community colleges that advocate improved recruitment and retention of diverse faculty and staff. They promote leadership and advocacy for environmental change, diverse communities and an inclusive environment for all in Iowa’s higher education system.
