PELLA — Central College Campus Ministries teamed up with Central’s chapter of Habitat for Humanity to spend spring break in Texas City, Texas. The group of nine students left March 11 and drove 17 straight hours. They returned March 19 after a week of fellowship, construction and remodeling.
Texas City was hit by Hurricane Ike in 2008 which caused damage almost equal to that of Hurricane Katrina. Students helped with the on-going recovery efforts, renovating existing homes to allow displaced families to return. The group stayed at a church during the trip that provided them with meals.
Nick Rohner, assistant tennis coach and worship/ministry team coordinator, accompanied the group.
