Frederik Schlingemann will join Central College as the new director for international student recruitment and admission. Schlingemann brings to the role extensive experience working with international students for a number of educational institutions.

A Dutch citizen, Schlingemann earned his B.S. in business administration from Webster University, Leiden, The Netherlands, and his MBA from Webster University in Saint Louis, Missouri. Most recently, he served as the international recruitment coordinator at the University of Michigan-Flint, where he supervised international undergraduate, graduate and English Language Program student recruitment.

Previously, Schlingemann held the position of international student recruiter at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and worked as a graduate assistant with International Recruitment and Services at Webster University.

As the director for international student recruitment and admission at Central, Schlingemann will work to establish relationships with international schools and students, creating connections with both four-year, degree-seeking undergraduate students as well as students seeking an academic American Year Abroad (AYA).

“I am honored and excited to join the Central College community, and I look forward to working closely with the faculty, students, staff and alumni,” said Schlingemann. “The prospect of working and collaborating with so many dedicated and passionate individuals truly excites me and I can’t wait to get started and grow Central’s international student body.”

Through the hiring of Schlingemann, Central seeks to build on its reputation as an international community of global learners and a leading college in global, experiential education. Support from the Vermeer Charitable Foundation is instrumental in efforts around international student recruitment and global citizenship.

Schlingemann will begin his duties at Central June 18.
