Central’s Blue Vocal and Instrumental Combo, under the direction of associate professor of music Gabriel Espinosa, will perform Wednesday, Nov. 9 in Cox-Snow Recital Hall at 8 p.m.
The Blue Combo is an auditioned vocal and instrumental group featuring seven vocalists and a four-piece band. The group will perform popular songs from the pop, rock and jazz genres. The concert will also feature two surprise guest performers from the Central faculty.
There are two vocal and instrumental combos at Central, Blue and Red. Both are directed by Espinosa. The combos play separately and together at concerts throughout the year.
Blue Combo vocal members include senior Ashley Albaugh of Clarence; senior Natalie Diaz of Marshfield, Wis.; junior Kaurie Kincaid of Knoxville; sophomore Meghan Nelson of Treynor; junior Hannah Seibel of Eldridge; senior Maggie Snyder of Alexandria, Minn; and sophomore Mitchell Stearns of Urbandale.
Band members are freshman Curtis Jackson of Newton; senior Zachary Jacobs of Battle Creek, Mich.; junior Tyler Morgan of Centerville; and freshman Robert Woodle of Knoxville. Instrumentation includes bass, drums, piano and guitar.
The show is free and open to the public. Tickets must be acquired in advance and are available at the information booth in Maytag Student Center or by calling 641-628-9000.
