Harry Smith ’73, award-winning correspondent and internationally renowned storyteller, will narrate two musical pieces during the annual Des Moines Symphony’s Yankee Doodle Pops celebration on Friday, July 3, held on the statehouse lawn in Des Moines. Smith will narrate “Lincoln Portrait,” which features the words of Abraham Lincoln set to music by Aaron Copland, and “American Mosaic,” a new piece co-commissioned by the Symphony and composed by Peter Boyer.
