‘Bill Hemmes ‘64 taught for 35 years at Waverly-Shell Rock and retired in 2002. He went on to work seven more years at Wartburg, teaching Spanish. At the young age of 80, he still continues to “sub” when asked. “I use ‘subbing’ as a way to get out of the house and enjoy the interaction with the students,” Hemmes says.
