In conjunction with Central College’s new Integrated Learning model, four class deans and four class directors have been named from current faculty and staff members. The model is the first of its kind at any college or university in the U.S.
Central College was named a Finalist for the Presidential Award by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). Central was one of only 14 schools in the nation—and the only one in Iowa—awarded the distinction.
Central’s nine-member squad received an at-large bid to the ORC following regional competition and will face off against 23 teams from across the nation for the chance to advance to the AMTA National Championship Tournament in Minneapolis, Minn., April 13-15.

Garber has served as director of human resources for several organizations similar in size to Central. She will begin in the role Jan. 3.
Jones will serve as the dean for the class of 2016, guiding the students through transitions during their four years on campus.
Peggy Fitch will be the vice president for student development and continue as professor of psychology. Charlie Strey, currently associate dean of student life, will serve as dean of students.
With the proceeds from the book fair, Central’s Education Club will buy books to donate to local schools and charities.
