Mark Babcock, associate professor of music at Central College, will give a lecture and organ recital Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel. The event is a celebration of Babcock receiving the M. Joan Kuyper Farver Endowed Chair in Music.
Central will introduce a new integrated studies major and a new entrepreneurship minor for the fall 2012 semester.
Kayleen Vander Veen, chef and quality control supervisor for Central, recently graduated from the Culinary Enrichment and Innovation Program as part of the Culinary Institute of America and Hormel Foods.
As director of college relations, Eighmy will manage executive communications and promotion. She will also lead efforts for the college’s national and regional media relations, government and community relations, corporate and foundation relations and executive initiatives.
The Central College community celebrated the work of its best scholars as senior honors students presented their final theses in the Roe Center.
Each spring, Central College recognizes faculty members for their leadership in teaching, professional development and service.
Central and Bangor University recently made an agreement to allow selected students to insert an “American Year” into their studies. The agreement is expected to last for the foreseeable future, bringing five students to Central each fall.
The chair was established in 2005 to advance and promote teaching, learning, service and research related to the development of character and leadership skills in Central students.
On May 12, 323 seniors will graduate from Central College. The baccalaureate service will begin at 9:30 a.m. in First Reformed Church. The commencement ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse.
“Little Princes” retells Grennan’s decision to travel the world in 2004 and his subsequent discovery of rampant child trafficking while volunteering at an orphanage in Nepal. The memoir tracks the author’s initial reluctance to involve himself in a country struggling through civil war and his eventual steadfast resolve to aid the children.
