Central College’s Class of 2024 Senior Art Exhibition will include work from nine students. The exhibit opens Wednesday, April 17, in the Mills Gallery, Lubbers Center on Central’s campus. An artists’ reception will be 1-3 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in the gallery, with the students available for discussion.
Mat Kelly, professor of art, leads the senior seminar class and works with these students. The senior art majors exhibiting are:
- Sophie Kruger, Newton, Iowa, who will share paintings reflecting on the processing of loss.
- Scott Martin, Moscow, Iowa, who will present crochet masks that reflect personality characteristics.
- Jasmine Trinidad, Las Vegas, Nevada, who will display handmade books exploring the blending of Philippines and American culture.
- Taylor Wyeth, Aurora, Illinois, who will show handmade paper and painting to celebrate the strength of women.
- Madilynn Peitzman, Class of 2025, Altoona, Iowa, who will exhibit landscape painting.
The 2024 Senior Showcase also features independent art related research projects by:
- Grae Digmann-Pearson, English major from Anamosa, Iowa, working with historical book bindings.
- Kayla Schneider, business management major from Lafayette, Colorado, working with branding guidelines.
- Kaylee Peiffer, Class of 2025 art and English major from Packwood, Iowa, working with children’s book illustration.
- Emily Wassink, Class of 2025 psychology major from Grants Pass, Oregon, working with paper sculpture.
