Central College Political Science Students Present at 28th Annual Great Plains Conference

Students from Central College’s political science program attended and presented during the 28th annual Great Plains Political Science Association conference.  

Dante Trinidad-GomezClass of 2026 political science major, Lincoln Stensland, Class of 2026 political science major, Isaac Stensland, Class of 2026 political science major, and Steel Reese Anderson, Class of 2028 political science and history major, and Stephanie Wise, assistant professor of political science, traveled to the conference at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in March.  

Trinidad-Gomez, Stensland and Stensland presented, “Shadows of Justice: The Influence of Off-Bench Emergency Docket Rhetoric on Supreme Court Legitimacy,” at a poster session, based on their paper co-authored with Wise.  

Anderson and Wise presented their co-authored paper, “Thaw and Refreeze: The Tone of Religious and Sexual Rhetoric at National Party Conventions, 1988–2024,” in a panel focused on gender and minority politics. 

Wise served on a panel of American politics experts during the National Politics Roundtable, discussing major developments in American politics today. 

Great Plains Political Science Association promotes political science research and teaching, with an emphasis on topics relevant to the Great Plains region.  

Central actively supports student participation in professional conferences to connect them with peers, faculty and emerging trends in their fields.
