Central College introduces Big Red Bucks, a new dining option designed to deepen students’ connection to Pella and expand their access to local food experiences. Launching after Spring Break 2026, Big Red Bucks will give students the flexibility to use part of their existing flex dining dollars at select restaurants throughout the community.
Every student will receive $25 in Big Red Bucks from the college each semester, accessible through their Central ID functioning like a debit swipe. Additional funds may be added by family and friends. These funds can be used at five Pella businesses: Clover Leaf on Franklin, Culver’s, George’s Pizza & Steakhouse, The Brew Coffee House and Main Street Markt.
“Dining is a huge part of the college experience,” says Iwan Williams, executive director of retail management. “Big Red Bucks option encourages students to explore Pella, support local businesses and enjoy a variety of food options off campus. This partnership strengthens the bonds between Central and our community, which is at the heart of Imagine More.”
All five participating businesses are members of the Pella Area Community & Economic Alliance, a key partner in Central’s Imagine More initiative, which aims to cultivate meaningful connections between the college and the city.
Central plans to continue exploring additional partnerships and opportunities as the program grows.
