Central College’s A Cappella Choir completed its 2025 spring tour to St. Louis, Missouri, and Nashville, Tennessee. While in Nashville, they performed at the Grand Ole Opry May 16 as part of its Music City Performance Program.

The ensemble performed for 20 minutes, directed by Mark Babcock, a 1991 Central graduate, professor of music and M. Joan Kuyper Farver Endowed Chair in Music. The Music City Performance Program gives students a performance experience at one of the nation’s most iconic and historic establishments.

Central emphasizes immersive, group-based and faculty-led off-campus experiences that enrich students’ academic journeys and prepare them for life beyond the classroom. These experiences, whether domestic or international, are intentionally designed to foster cultural awareness, adaptability and global understanding. By working closely with faculty mentors and engaging in collaborative learning environments, students gain hands-on exposure to real-world challenges, build professional connections and develop skills that translate directly to career readiness.
