The National Strength and Conditioning Association named Central College’s personal training program as an NSCA Education Recognition Program. The ERP recognizes and distinguishes programs with approved and standardized strength and conditioning or personal training curricula.
“This recognition for our personal training program assures students they will learn everything needed to sit and pass certification exams and be successful in the field,” says Dave Pavlat, associate professor of kinesiology. “Central and the kinesiology department are committed to giving our students the tools that allow them to be successful in whatever field they pursue.”
The achievement of the NSCA recognition through the ERP demonstrated that Central meets the requirements to prepare students for the NSCA-CPT and/or CSCS certifications and is committed to quality. The NSCA approved Central’s strength and conditioning and personal training programs for ERP, distinguishing them from other programs in Iowa and across the nation.
Central’s kinesiology and strength and conditioning programs earned accreditation from the CAAHEP per the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences making faculty experts in the field. In 2022, Central’s strength and conditioning program became the first college in Iowa to earn accreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Strength and Conditioning Program, demonstrating Central’s commitment to the highest standard of excellence for its students, faculty and athletes.
