In step with the Dutch’s love for coffee, Central College launched a new brew, Forever Dutch® Roast, in partnership with Iris Coffee Company in Pella.
Forever Dutch Roast is a medium roast coffee roasted at Iris Coffee Company in Pella, Iowa. The beans come from the Huila region of Colombia, which is known for heavier-bodied, sweeter beans.
“The coffee farmers suggest the coffee has tasting notes of chocolate, toasted almond, cane sugar and light citrus,” says Meagan DeGraaf, Iris Coffee Company proprietor. “This coffee uses a washed process. Washed beans tend to get those sweeter, more chocolatey notes rather than fruity. It has a nice amount of flavor without putting off the traditional coffee lover.”
Similar to the Forever Dutch Lager introduced in 2023, Central is partnering with a local business which is donating proceeds to support student scholarships.
“We are thrilled that 30% of the Forever Dutch Roast sales will go to the Journey Scholarship Fund,” says Steffanie Bonnstetter, director of marketing and communications, who led the collaborative effort. “We so appreciate local businesses who want to partner with Central. This collaboration is a testament to a community coming together to support the next generation of Central students.”
Forever Dutch Roast will be introduced at the 2024 Homecoming events, Oct. 4-6. The coffee will be available at the Iris Coffee Company, 631 Franklin St., Pella, Iowa, and at the Central Spirit Shoppe, Maytag Student Center on Central’s campus. Online orders may be placed beginning Friday, Oct. 4, at centralspiritshoppe.com or iriscoffee.co/shop.
