Adam Bradley, assistant professor of kinesiology at Central College, published two research articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Frontiers in Sports and Active Living published Bradley’s research “Muscle-Specific Declines in Oxygen Saturation During Acute Ambulation with Hands-Free and Conventional Mobility Devices.”

Millions of Americans experience lower body injuries each year requiring the use of mobility devices. This healing period can shrink muscles, reduce strength and increase deep vein thrombosis risk. Given the importance of oxygen in the healing process, researchers examined muscle oxygen levels when walking compared to using common mobility devices. It concluded that mobility device selection influences lower extremity muscle oxygen levels.

Bradley, along with other researchers from North Dakota State University, published “Bench Press Range-of-Motion and Velocity-based Repetition Control: Effects on Ballistic Push-up Performance in Males,” in the International Journal of Exercise Science. The study investigates whether ballistic push-ups are responsive to post-activation performance enhancement after a bench press conditioning exercise using velocity-based repetition control.

Bradley’s research was completed at North Dakota State University, where he taught before joining the Central kinesiology department in 2023.
