Central College’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council hosted a Kid’s Captain event for the Special Olympics Feb. 8, during a Dutch women’s basketball game.
During the event, Central athletes and staff demonstrated their commitment to supporting Special Olympics and its athletes. Central’s Kid Captain was Christine Ausman, from Madison Elementary, Pella, who joined the women’s team on the sideline to experience the game from the perspective of a college athlete.
March 23, a Twitter poll was conducted by the NCAA Division III, and with 59.5% of the vote, Central won the March Division III Special Olympics Spotlight Poll.
Central’s SAAC was recognized in the NCAA Division III monthly newsletter and on the NCAA Division III social media channels for this event.
