Central College’s executive director of communications and marketing published two articles in HigherEd Dive, a national daily news outlet for higher education.
Denise Lamphier shares what she learned from her own child’s college search in “5 college recruiting lessons from a mom and a marketer” and “4 more insights from a mom and a marketer.”
The articles explain the large amount of marketing materials high school students receive during their college search and how marketers can use this information as they recruit 17-year-old prospects.
Lamphier wrote, “One student. Four years. Ninety different colleges and universities. A total of 5,228 emails. Four military recruitment brochures, 23 handwritten notes, 302 postcards, and 162 viewbooks and pamphlets mailed alone. That’s in addition to 130 letters, often including viewbooks, applications or other materials.
“All to elicit one decision.
“It’s no wonder higher education is more competitive and demanding than ever.”
Lamphier oversees the college’s marketing, communications and media relations efforts. Since joining the college in 2017, her role has expanded with the addition of internal communications, health and COVID-19 communications, crisis communications and livestreaming.
