Central alumni and friends showed strong support for the college and its students on Giving Tuesday.
Central donors surpassed the $45,000 goal to unlock matching funds for the Journey Scholarship Fund and raised more than $98,000 designated for Journey scholarships. In total, the college raised nearly $104,000 with 173 gifts from donors in support of scholarships and programs.
“On a day recognized globally, we are so thankful for members of the Central family who continue to remember our students and the need for scholarships,” says Sunny Gonzales Eighmy, vice president for advancement and a 1999 Central graduate. “We are incredibly fortunate to have such a loyal donor base that consistently shows its heart for students and this amazing institution.”
The Journey Scholarship Fund was created to help students pursue their dreams at Central and has awarded thousands of scholarships to students from around the country. It is 100% donor funded and helps open doors of opportunity by making a Central education affordable for students. Thanks to the generosity of donors, Central will award a $1,000 Journey Scholarship to all first-year students in the 2022-23 academic year.
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving celebrated each year by nonprofits, small businesses, corporations, schools and faith-based organizations all over the world.
