Central College’s Central RED Society will present “From the Beginning: The Liberty Street Kitchen Story” with Jake Warner during a virtual event at noon Thursday, Nov. 12. The event is free and can be accessed via Zoom.
Liberty Street Kitchen, located at 705 E. First St. in Pella, is a casual bistro celebrating modern rural living and offering contemporary comfort cuisine with a local focus.
Warner is the general manager of Liberty Street Kitchen. He’s a Des Moines native with more than 15 years of hospitality experience. He has worked as GM and been involved in creative new restaurant concepts in Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Cleveland. Prior to moving back to Iowa to work on Liberty Street Kitchen, he was GM for City Works Restaurant in Philadelphia.
Warner will share what was involved in bringing Liberty Street Kitchen to Pella and offer insights into some of the intricacies of the restaurant business and what it takes to keep a restaurant like Liberty Street Kitchen vibrant in a community. It will be an opportunity to learn firsthand what it takes to create a successful restaurant business.
