Central College’s music department will host its Alumni Recital featuring tenor Tristan Miedema, a 2018 graduate, at 7 p.m. Monday, March 30, on the Hoekstra Family Stage in Douwstra Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

The concert also will feature Bogyeong Lee, a South Korean pianist who has performed with orchestras around the country and world, including the University of Iowa where she is completing a doctorate in musical arts and is a teaching assistant and instructor in the pre-college piano program.

Miedema is pursuing a master’s degree in voice performance at the University of Iowa. At Central, Miedema majored in music and minored in Spanish and was involved with the A Cappella Choir and Chamber Singers. Miedema’s musical career includes expertise in ensembles, opera, studio vocals, musical theatre, concert work, choral conducting and show choir.

Central’s music department also has another pair of concerts in March. The Flying Pans Steel Band will hold a post-tour performance at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 22, in Douwstra. It is free and open to the public.

An ALMA Concert is set for 8 p.m. Friday, March 27, in the Recital Hall of Cox-Snow Music Center. Cost is $5 or free with a Central ID.
