Central College’s music department will present several concerts for the month of February.
The first will feature guest artist Projeto Arcomusical at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Douwstra Auditorium. Arcomusical is a world music sextet reimagining the Afro-Brazilian berimbau through a repertoire of unique, powerful and original concert chamber music. The event, part of the Douwstra Music Series, is free and open to the public.
Central will host the 10th-12th Grade Singfest all day Thursday, Feb. 14, followed by a 7 p.m. concert in Douwstra Auditorium. Scheduled to perform are the A Cappella Choir, Chamber Singers and Treble Clef Choir. The event is free and open to the public.
Jazzmania is scheduled at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Douwstra Auditorium. It will celebrate the release of Associate Professor of Music Gabriel Espinosa’s CD “Nostalgias De Mi Vida.” The concert features material from the album, as well as special guests Kim Nazarian and the Central College Jazz Band. Cost is $10 and free with a Central ID. Tickets are available at events.central.edu.
The ALMA Concert is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Cox-Snow Music Center. Cost is $5 or free with a Central ID. Tickets are available at events.central.edu.
Central’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Douwstra Auditorium. The group will perform Barnum and Bailey’s Favorite, Chants Rituals and Godzilla Eats Las Vegas! The event is free and open to the public.
