Central RED Society to Host Kick-Off Celebration
Central College’s Central RED Society is a lifelong learning program that enriches members’ lives through relevant, broad-based learning experiences. The group will celebrate the start of its 2018-19 academic year later this month with a social gathering.
Members of the public are invited to attend the Central RED Society Kick-Off Celebration at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28. The celebration will take place in the Dave and Ardie Sutphen Common Room in the Graham Annex on Central’s campus. Cost is $15 to attend. Heavy appetizers will be served, and a cash bar will be available.
“I encourage people to come out to learn about what Central RED can offer. RED is short for ‘Ready to Engage and Discover,’ and that is truly what this group is all about. Programs allow members to share their knowledge, talents and experience,” says Mary Benedict, assistant director of alumni relations and Central RED coordinator.
You do not need an affiliation with Central to join, she adds.
This event is open to the public; a membership with Central RED is not required to attend.
Central RED Hosts a Conversation with Vern Den Herder
Vern Den Herder, former American football player and a 1971 Central graduate, will lead Central RED’s second program of the academic year. He will share stories about his long football career with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins and detail his interesting life of unplanned choices.
Participants will gather at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, for dinner and a program in the Dave and Ardie Sutphen Common Room in the Graham Annex on Central’s campus.
The cost to attend is $15 and includes dinner. A cash bar also will be available.
Participants must be a member of the Central RED Society to attend Central RED’s second program with Vern Den Herder. Anyone is welcome to join! Central RED membership costs $25 per year.
