Five Central College seniors will hold their final art exhibitions beginning April 24 at the Mills Gallery in the Lubbers Center for Visual Arts. The Senior Thesis Exhibit events are free and open to the public. Mills Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A reception for the show will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29.
The exhibition, which runs through May 11, features Kayla Foster, Callie Gardemann, Jessica Lippert, Madison Thingstad and Scottie Yang.
Foster, an art major from Dixon, Iowa, will show a series of enameled copper insects in her exhibit “Metallum Insectum.”
Gardemann, an art major from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, will be showcasing illustrations for a children’s book that will eventually be published. Her exhibit, “Not-a-Care Island,” includes a combination of mixed media.
Lippert, an art major from Steamboat Rock, Iowa, will display a set of figural ceramics that describe tension and transition between independence and dependence in a relationship in her exhibit titled “Safe.”
Thingstad, an art major from Pella, Iowa, will share tunnel books in the shape of hot air balloons in her exhibit “Aloft.”
Yang, an art major from Oskaloosa, Iowa, will exhibit a hand-drawn collage filled with college life experiences entitled “Comical Life of a College Student.”
