Seven semesters have flown for me at Central College — exams, papers and presentations mixing with memories of Central traditions around the pond. I’ve got no regrets for how I spent my time, and I want to fill my final semester with more of the best!

Don’t Miss Athletic and Arts Events

I go to school with truly talented individuals! Central College students are some of the most involved and dedicated athletes and artists. Every time I enter our athletics and arts buildings, I’m reminded of all the amazing things my peers do. I’m also impressed with the student fans and their exuberant cheering! As next year begins, I’ll be attending more awesome events.

Invest Time for Personal Wellness

As with most Central students, I’m involved in many things beyond my studies. Working out matters to me too, but it can easily fall to the wayside. I’m inspired by our new dean of wellness, Kristi Leonard, and her outlook on wellness. Good health involves all areas of life, including physical, emotional and spiritual health. As I move into next year, I hope to take more time building a holistic approach to wellness (and of course, get back into the gym).

Embrace Sustainability

When I leave campus during break or visit other institutions, I’m always surprised they don’t have bins for recycling — or compost! At Central, many students really do an awesome job trying to lead a sustainable life. I think I can do more. My goal for the New Year is committing to Meatless Mondays, cutting my meat intake once a week to help reduce methane emissions from its production.

I’m filled with mixed emotions as I enter my final semester at Central, but I’m very excited to see where this year takes us. I’m so happy to call myself Dutch, and I’m thankful I get one more semester to make the most of!
