Performing artist Reverend Billy will speak about environmental justice Oct. 10 at Central College. Billy, a New York-based activist, will perform with musical director Nehemiah Luckett at 7 p.m. in Cox-Snow Recital Hall. Their presentation, “Earthalujah: A Call to Action for People and the Planet,” is free and open to the public.

Reverend Billy launched his crusade against consumerism and corporate greed in Times Square in 1998. Since 2005, his work focuses on environmental justice and the dangers of industrial agriculture, genetically modified organisms, herbicides and pesticides.

On Oct. 11, Billy will also present “Citizen Activism to Clean up the Poisons in our Parks and on our Plates” to students, faculty and staff. The events are sponsored by Central’s office of global sustainability education.
