Bill Stowe, CEO and general manager of Des Moines Water Works, will speak about nitrates, water quality and the DMWW lawsuit Oct. 27 at Central College. His 11 a.m. presentation is free and open to the public in Cox-Snow Recital Hall.

Stowe is the keynote speaker for Water Week, a water quality and conservation awareness week planned by Central College students for Oct. 24-28.“We’re focusing on both quality and conservation because you can’t have one without the other,” said Katie Gatzke, senior political science student from Ankeny.

Stowe was appointed Des Moines Water Works CEO and general manger in 2012. He completed a bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College, Master of Science in Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin, Master of Science in Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois and Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University Law School. Stowe has also served as assistant manager—public works/engineering and human resources director for the City of Des Moines, operations manager for MidAmerican Energy, analyst for Shell Oil, labor relations representative for Inland Steel Industries and field examiner for the National Labor Relations Board.
