Nicole Kaplan to be Installed as Weller Distinguished Professor

Nicole Kaplan will be installed Sept. 13 as Kenneth J. Weller Distinguished Professor of the Liberal Arts. Her public lecture and reception are in the Central College Chapel at 4 p.m. Kaplan’s presentation is titled “Forever Relevant: The Enduring Value of the Humanities in a Point-and-Click World.”

Kaplan, associate professor of French, has taught at Central since 2002. She directed Central’s Paris program until 2006, when she joined the modern languages faculty on campus.

The Kenneth J. Weller Distinguished Professorship of the Liberal Arts, named after Central’s 18th president, recognizes a distinguished faculty member and provides support for teaching, research and scholarship.
