Dwight, a native Iowan, started California-based Integrated Power Corporation (also known as iPower). The company provides solar power systems to commercial, industrial and utility customers. Dwight is also president of the Iowa Solar Energy Trade Association and travels to promote solar energy to students, farmers, business owners and lawmakers.
Before his evening lecture at Central, Dwight will meet with student athletes for an informal conversation about his transition from football star to solar entrepreneur. Brian Campbell, director for sustainability education, said Dwight’s exciting energy projects (and his athletic prowess) give him an interesting story to share with students and audiences throughout Iowa.
In 2013, Dwight said in an interview that Iowans know how to use the sun to create wealth — they plant millions of acres of corn each spring. According to Dwight, the next step is to power the state with the same renewable resource.
