The group will perform “Moorside March” by Gustav Holst, “Handel in the Strand” by Percy Grainger, “Suite Franciase” composed by Darius Milhaud, “Incantation and Dance” written by John Barnes Chance and Leroy Anderson’s “Bugler’s Holiday.”
This last piece will feature three guest performers from Lowly Brass playing the solo trumpet parts on euphonium. This five-member brass ensemble will also perform selections of their own, including works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Irving Berlin and John Phillip Sousa.
Lowly Brass was founded in 2002 as an extension of the Ottumwa Municipal Band to continue playing opportunities throughout the year. Since then, the group has maintained an active performance schedule, presenting concerts at many private and public events in southeast Iowa. They have also performed at the Iowa State Fair. They celebrate International Tuba Day on the first Friday of May with their annual International Tuba Day concert. Members of the group include Carlta Conrad, Mary Lee Hansen, Robbie Coe, Greg Hendrickson and Paul Zingg.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Mitch Lutch at 641-628-5238 or lutchm@central.edu
