Speaker Daryl Davis to present Feb. 8

PELLA — Daryl Davis presents “Klan-Destine Relationships” Tuesday, Feb. 8, in Cox-Snow Recital Hall. The event, sponsored by the intercultural life office, starts at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

“Klan-Destine Relationships” confronts race relations at their most heated point: the Ku Klux Klan. Over the past 10 years, Davis has explored racism. As a black man, he has formed relationships with members of the KKK and has even been the recipient of converted Klan members’ robes and hoods. Audience members leave his lectures seeking, and hopefully finding, a common ground to help forge peace with their most unlikely adversaries.

Davis has received acclaim from many sources, including CNN, CNBC, National Public Radio and more for his lecture and book, also titled Klan-Destine Relationships. He earned his bachelor of music degree from Howard University in Washington D.C. He performs with his own Daryl Davis Band and has toured with Chuck Berry and Muddy Water’s Legendary Blues Band, among others.
