PELLA – The Central graduating class of 2011 challenged the senior class from ten years ago to join with them for this year’s senior class gift. Together, the two classes raised money for a scholarship that will be awarded to a Central student for the 2011-2012 school year.
This was the first time in Central’s history that a graduating class teamed up with alumni to raise funds for the senior gift. “The senior class thought the idea was really cool, as did the class of 2001,” says Kathy Thompson, director of the annual fund. “They liked the concept of joining together.”
The gift of a scholarship is unusual, too, but Thompson says contributing to the endowment is a meaningful act. “When the class of 2011 comes back to campus with their families someday, they can tell their kids: ‘I left you this entire place.’”
