Central College Catering has been named Best Caterer in the Marion County Development Commission’s 2013 Best of the Red Rock Area. The catering department has earned a reputation as one of the leading full-service caterers in Iowa.

Central College announced that it has been named Best Caterer in the Marion County Development Commission’s 2013 Best of the Red Rock Area.

Central’s catering department caters everything from breakfasts and box lunches to themed dinners, special events and desserts, and it has earned a reputation as one of the leading full-service caterers in Iowa. Central was honored at a ceremony held Jan. 30.

“The catering staff works hard to be the best,” said Mark Howard, director of dining services. “These awards show that we are representing Central College and Marion County in a positive manner, and we hope to continue to do so in future.”

Central was also honored as Best Wedding Reception Location and the Best Place for Conferences for offering state-of-art facilities and equipment needed for a variety of events. Cheering on the Central Dutch was also listed as one of the top 10 activities in the county.

Winners in the Best of Red Rock Area were determined by voters who visited the Marion County Development Commissions website from Sept. 1-Nov. 1, 2013. The contest is sponsored by the Marion County Development Commission to promote hospitality and service throughout the area’s tourism industry.

Awards are given to the entities receiving the highest number of votes in each of 40 categories, plus the top ten vote getters in four categories. The dates for the 2014 Best of the Red Rock Area contest are Feb. 1-Nov.1.
