Central’s Flying Pans present “Astrosteel”

Central College’s Flying Pans Steel Band, under the direction of assistant professor of music Stan Dahl, will host “Astrosteel” a space-themed concert  in Douwstra Auditorium Nov. 4-5 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 6 at 4 p.m.

“Astrosteel” features Dahl’s original rock, soca, funk and techno compositions alongside a display of lasers, lights and special effects.

“We’ll be boldly going where no pan has gone before,” said Dahl.

The Flying Pans play on steelpans, which originated in Trinidad and Tobago. The ensemble hosts several shows each semester.

Ticket price is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Admission is free with a Central ID. Tickets are available at the information booth in Maytag Student Center. Reserve tickets online or by calling 641-628-9000.
