Artist Sarah Grant of Des Moines will hold an exhibition of her work Thursday, Aug. 18 through Friday, Sept. 16 in Central College’s Mills Gallery in the Lubbers Center for Visual Arts.
The exhibit features acrylic work and focuses on the development of an artist. Grant has chosen to exhibit work from high school, college and her early career, as well as current pieces. The exhibit will also display works in progress.
Grant is the owner of Sticks, a nationally recognized furniture, accessories and object art studio in Des Moines. Her work is featured in galleries and retail locations across the country. She also has pieces hanging in over 30 permanent collections.
Grant received an M.F.A in printmaking from the University of Iowa and has earned another M.F.A in painting. Her numerous honors include a Visiting Artist Residency for the Iowa Arts Council and the Jerome Foundation Invitational Grant.
Grant will be in residence at Central on Tuesday, Sept. 13. She will visit classes to work with students. The day will also include an artist talk and reception at the Mills Gallery.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
