The ensembles kick off the tour Friday, Oct. 21 with a 2 p.m. performance at Iowa Valley High School in Marengo. That evening, they will host a 7:30 performance at First Congregational Church in Waterloo. Oct. 22 they will be featured at 4 p.m. mass at St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines. Their final engagement will be the 10:15 a.m. service at Central Presbyterian Church in Des Moines on Oct. 23.
Central College A Cappella Choir is a select 60-plus member ensemble. The choir has gained a reputation for choral excellence and variety in its programming. It performs regularly on and off campus. Programming for the tour will be chosen from a selection of five pieces.
The Chamber Singers are a 16-select person vocal group who also are members of the A Cappella Choir.
Mark Babcock, associate professor of music, is director. He is in his 13th year of teaching at Central and is chair of the music department. In 2005, he received the Organist of Iowa award from Iowa State University.
